To All The Boys I’ve loved: A Refreshing RomCom

Rating: 4.5/5

“To all the Boys I’ve Loved Before” is a Netflix Film adapted from the book “To all the Boys I’ve Loved Before” written by Jenny Han.

Actors: Lana Condor, Noah Centineo, Janel Parrish, Anna CathCart, Israel Broussard and more.

I’m not sure what’s up with the recent influx of Netflix Original RomComs, but I’m freakin’ loving it! My little heart just can’t handle all of this cuteness, I only wish I grew up watching movies like this one that features a strong female lead and a diverse cast.

I’m a little behind with this review but I just found out that this movie is getting a sequel, so I thought I’d share my thoughts about the original TATB.

Lara Jean, played by Lana Condor, is strong and independent but is such a hopeless romantic that she writes 5 love letters over the course of a few years to guys she’s fallen for. The letters end up in the hands of all 5 guys and one of them happens to be Peter, played by Noah Centineo, and that’s where their story begins. This charming movie will leave you feeling happy and hopeful. The playful banter between Lara Jean and Peter is sweet and seems to come naturally; their acting is impeccable.

Lana Condor truly steals the show with her quiet, yet headstrong personality. She knows what she wants and she’s not afraid to go for it. It’s definitely a characteristic we don’t see too often in female rom-com leads. Noah Centineo is a charming and sweet jock who could easily become friends with anyone. Most male rom-com leads are jerks, or just clueless, until the “girl of his dreams” comes along and changes him. But this movie gets it right and shows that these two are compatible with each other without needing to change themselves, because let’s be real you shouldn’t date anyone with the hopes that they’ll change for you.

This movie just gets it right, and I can’t wait for the sequel! What was your favorite scene?
